No. 12 // National Pollinator Week - June 18-24th 2018

How wonderful that we have a whole week designated to celebrating our hard-working pollinators?

According to Pollinator Partnership, "Eleven years ago the U.S. Senate’s unanimous approval and designation of a week in June as “National Pollinator Week” marked a necessary step toward addressing the urgent issue of declining pollinator populations. Pollinator Week has now grown into an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles."

If you're looking for a way to celebrate our pollinators and spread the word about what you can do to protect them, there are events happening all around the world.  Check out the comprehensive list on the Pollinator Partnership site here.

Don't see an event near you?  Look for creative ways to host your own pollinator party and be sure to add your event to this list if you plan to make it a community event!

Whatever you decide to do to recognize pollinators, consider planting just one pollinator-friendly plant that's native to your region and as your add to your collection, you can celebrate pollinator week every week in your garden. //
